Communion?

We have all heard many times the story of the Last Supper, (Luke 22:19-20 KJV  And he took bread, and gave thanks, and brake it, and gave unto them, saying, This is my body which is given for you: this do in remembrance of me.  (20)  Likewise also the cup after supper, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood, which is shed for you. I am blessed each time I read or hear this.

It is what we are told to do as in; 1 Corinthians 11:23-26 KJV  (23)  For I have received of the Lord that which also I delivered unto you, That the Lord Jesus the same night in which he was betrayed took bread:  (24)  And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me.  (25)  After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me.  (26)  For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord's death till he come.

He took thing they used everyday and made them a bridge to remember him. We eat bread almost every day. We on the other hand don’t drink wine every day. (They did in that day.)

So how do we remember Christ today, and every day? We use the gifts of our daily bread and daily drink to remember Christ. Every time you put something in your mouth to eat, you are taking in God’s blessings. Should we not remember what Christ has done for us then?…. Now?

All of life is a blessing, not to be acknowledged, once a month, once in a while, but every day of our lives.  There is nothing mystical about the process of the remembrance of what Christ did for us. It is something we should do daily, hourly, every minute of every day. The gift of God is never any farther than our next breath or our last one.

Don’t put off remembering. Don’t wait for someone to do it for you. Do it NOW, and do it all day long. 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 KJV  (16)  Rejoice evermore.  (17)  Pray without ceasing.  (18)  In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.
